HOW RIGHTS ISSUES WORK

Subscribe, sell the RE, or let it lapse?

A Rights Entitlement (RE) is not the same as a rights share. Eligible shareholders receive REs based on the record-date ratio. You can normally subscribe using the RE, renounce/sell it during the permitted trading window, or do nothing. An unused RE lapses after the deadline.

1. Check eligibilityWere you a shareholder on the record date, or did you buy REs later?

2. Compare priceCompare issue price with the market price and understand the theoretical ex-rights effect.

3. Check capital needRead why the company is raising money: debt reduction, working capital, capex or losses.

4. Act before deadlineIf you buy or receive REs, subscribe or renounce before the applicable deadline. Unused REs can lapse.

Rights Issue guidance

What is a Rights Entitlement?

An RE is a temporary entitlement credited to eligible shareholders. It can generally be used to apply for rights shares or renounced/traded during the permitted window. It is not automatically converted into shares.

Can a non-shareholder apply?

A person who was not a shareholder on the record date may generally participate by purchasing REs and then separately applying for the rights shares before issue closure, subject to the offer terms.

What if I do nothing?

If an RE is neither subscribed nor renounced by the applicable deadline, it can lapse. The investor receives no rights shares for that entitlement.

Why dilution matters

Shareholders who do not participate may see their percentage ownership fall after new shares are issued. Participating up to the entitlement can help preserve proportional ownership.
