Rights Issue FAQs

Do I automatically receive shares if I receive an RE?

No. An RE is an entitlement. You still need to apply and pay according to the issue terms.

Can I buy an RE if I was not a shareholder on the record date?

Generally yes, where RE trading is available. Buying the RE and applying for the rights shares are separate steps.

What happens if I do not use the RE?

Unused REs can lapse after the relevant deadline. They do not automatically become shares or cash.

How should I interpret a large entitlement ratio?

A larger ratio means more new shares relative to the existing share base. That increases both the capital required to maintain proportional ownership and the dilution for holders who do not participate.

Is a lower rights price always a bargain?

No. The economics depend on dilution, business fundamentals, use of proceeds, market price, payment calls and the overall terms of the issue.
